Alliance Project Report 24th June

Its time for an update on my Alliance Project. 2 weeks ago I purchased a number of Alliance only pets and cooking recipes and got them transferred over to the Horde side and did the same with Horde pets, sending them to the Alliance side. Well, I haven't done much since then beyond ensuring there is always one of each item up on the AH on each side. Now there is some work I need to do but over the last week I got into leveling the warlock and pretty much ignored a lot of other stuff.

But lets analyse what I have done so far.

I transferred the following over from the Horde to the Alliance...

I bought 12 of each and put them on the Alliance AH 1 at a time. In the last 2 weeks, I have had the following sales...

Not great sales but they are selling. I tend to put pets on for 30g unless there are other sellers in which case I undercut. The whistles I am pretty sure all sold for 30g. My sales over the last week have actually made me nearly 550g. Butin preparation for the next stage, I have been buying wool cloth and storing it ready for transfer. 275g has got me 1274 wool cloth where I hope to make 2-3 times as much Horde side selling it. Just need to get to transferring it.

I bought 4 of each of the cooking recipes sold in Stormwind by Kendor Kabonka along with 12 of each of the following...

The numbers above indicate sales over the last 2 weeks. All the cooking recipes have sold, starting at 20g each for the recipes and 30g for the pets unless being undercut again. Now, this seller has made over 4200g in the last week but hasn't just being selling those. He sells engineering pets for 100g-250g depending on the pet, various rods for enchanting and a number of meta gems made by one of my JCs utilising stock I had been siting on. I have also started selling some of the Tree Frog boxes I have got in storage while DMF is away. I have been managing to offload these at 50g each. I also have some Wood Frog Boxes but I am getting an error message when trying to put them on the AH that I can't auction an item with used charges. Heh, maybe I have kept them in the bank so long that they have died. No worries, I can look at restocking next DMF.

So, things are a little slow but at least it is a market with almost guaranteed profits. I transfer from one side to the other with no cost and sell them for much more than was paid. I want to keep the sales going Alliance side because I intend to use that money to fund the Wool market I intend on getting into very soon.

Alliance Project Report 17th June

Well, last week I started on my Alliance Project. I had been clearing out the guild bank of all the stuff I had in there for a good couple of years. I stuck it on the AH letting Auctioneer undercut with default settings for 4 days and then lowered the price drastically for the last day or so before vendoring what remained. I could have kept trying but I wanted the space. I then had my dwarf hunter visit all the pet vendors, picking up 12 of each pet that were only available to the Alliance, which is nearly all of them if I remember right. He then visited the cooking recipe vendor in Stormwind, buying 4 of each Ally only recipe. I then had a character on the GFs account do the same Horde side getting a much smaller collection. Once again I see things in favour of the Alliance, grrrrrr.

Then very late Friday night, both characters visited the AH in Booty Bay and an hour was spent transferring goods from one faction to another and vice versa. The ability of Auctioneer to buyout with a click is amazing, once you know its there (thank you Stokpile for pointing this out).

The recipes were posted on the AH one at a time for around 20g buyout when there isn’t competition, of which there is little. The pets have a maximum price of 30g, again when there isn’t competition but when others are being sold the price can drop to as low as 10g. Some pets are selling better than others. I also picked up 3 of the pets from Stormspire and am selling them for around 30g each to.

It seems that I am not doing too badly creating capital Alliance side for future purchases. I had 1500g when I started clearing stuff out and I am now up to over 2200g. Not too shabby I must say for selling pets. I am now looking for other markets that are only available to the Horde the Alliance might appreciate. I am also buying up wool cloth and am going to try moving that over too. Anything to make more revenue on the Horde side.

As to profits Horde side from this venture, well I’m not sure at the moment. Alliance item sells have been mixed in with sales of items I have made with Horde characters. I am looking for something to keep accurate records but haven’t found anything yet.

The Alliance Project - Everything must go

This would normally be posted on a Thursday but as was mentioned yesterday, this weeks posts have been swapped, so...

I think I mentioned I have a single Alliance character on the server I play. At some point my Wednesday history post will reveal more details about him but what it means that on a server where I predominately play Horde, I do have access to the Alliance market. The guy is a dwarven hunter with skinning and leatherworking and has his own guild with two bank tabs.

Now I have a plan for this character. I am going to use him to access the Alliance AH and should be able to use him to get some materials cheaper. Maybe. I believe that my server has a larger Alliance pop than Horde, I knew that was the case a year or two ago and believe it still to be. So there may be some things cheaper there. Somethings I can pick up and put on the Neutral AH for my GFs account to pick up instantly. Do what I call the Alliance Shuffle.

It is a fairly well known method. Place an item cheap on one faction and have the other buy it as soon as it is posted. Works best when you are using computers next to each other. Sure, there is a small window of opportunity when someone camping the neutral AH looking for this to use addons to grab it quickly but hasn't happened to me so far. I place the item for 1c bid and buyout and that way the AH doesn't take a cut.

And this is part of the crux of the issue I have, the neutral AH cut. Its 15%. At the moment I have over 20,000g on Horde and 1600g on Alliance. If I need money on Alliance, I could place something very high on there and buy it with Horde, but that means losing 15% to the cut. I could also find someone on the Alliance side with characters Horde side, give them money on Horde and get them to give me the same on Alliance. But that means finding someone who you can trust as much as they can trust you.

So I have come up with an idea. I am going to try and get into the markers on the Alliance side, but slowly. And I am looking at a very specific market to start with. I am going to try and enter the pet market. My plan, buy a number of the Horde pets, send them to the Alliance and sell them there while also doing the reverse with the Alliance pets. For this, I need storage.

I mentioned I had two guild bank tabs. Well, these are full, or at least were. My dwarf is only level 70. I have hardly played him since leveling up in TBC to get a leatherworker. He has two bank tabs full of things like TBC raw food and greens, crafting materials and the like. So I am sticking these on the AH and trying to get shot of them. Some I have put up very cheaply whereas others are cutting current sellers. I am trying to get rid of them all while trying to make a little at the same time. Some of these things have sold, others are still sitting there. I have already made over 100g selling this stuff and I may give it another week before putting everything up as cheap as possible without vending just so I then have the space.

I have already started on stage two too. I have gone around all the Alliance pet vendors and bought 12 of each. I need to do the same Horde side and then get two characters to the neutral AH, Booty Bay more than likely. The dwarf sits in Stormwind most of the time so it is a short flight there. Horde side, my GF has a mage at 71 who teleports to Stonard and flies the rest of the way. For stage two to complete, I need to ensure I have space Horde side for my Alliance stock of pets and clear out the dwarfs bank ready for storage and selling. I hope to make steady income there to support any future purchases I may need to make in the future.

Something else I will be looking at doing as part of the Alliance Shuffle is cash in on what I have always considered an unfairness in the balance of Alliance/Horde. There are a number of cooking recipes that are only available to Alliance characters that are sold in Stormwind. Once I have created more space Horde side, I will be buying a large amount and moving them over.

Thursday night will be discussing the Alliance Project and hopefully by next week some progress will have been made on this.
